It is interesting to note that 34 year old Malaysian Huajin Guan was one of 20 employees (12 Malaysians and eight from China) of Austin-based technology company Freescale Semiconductor. They were top engineers or technicians supposedly going to Beijing on a business trip. American researcher Ashton Forbes has suggested that the reason the plane was taken by the Americans was to forestall an effort by the Chinese to acquire (kidnap, deceive, bribe, threaten) the engineers and technicians who had knowledge of advanced semiconductor technology. The company had plants in Tianjin, China, and Kuala Lumpur. None of the Freescale employees on board were American. Guan was married with two children, aged 4 and 18 months. The family lived in Kuala Lumpur.

2. Belated message

On 26 August 2025 the writer searched a number of online lists of all those on board MH370 and found the following information on a Chinese national of interest: Wang Yonghui, Chinese, 33, seat 38K, Economy. This arose out of a report regarding the discovery during 2024 by University of Tasmania researcher Vincent Lyne of a message sent by Yonghui at 2.20am from on board MH370, utilising his phone connected to the Inmarsat satellite. The message had been undiscovered for a decade, buried amidst data files. It was in two parts - one transmitted (received) and another written and stored, but not sent, as follows:

They're taking us somewhere. Signal is weak. Not sure we'll survive ...... We don't know were we are.

This was reported by the Aviation Safety Group and published by Reuters news service on 11 March 2024. It was noted in the following YouTube video on 24 August 2025:

Mindgap, Flight MH370 passenger sent chilling text message that solves the disappearance, Mindgap, 24 August 2025, YouTube, duration: 26.10 minutes.

No other messages from the plane had been made public by the American, Australian or Malaysian authorities since MH370 disappeared. Only the last call from the pilot or co-pilot and a supposed emergency mayday call reported by the Chinese. There was also a cryptic call from Diego Garcia by the only American on board the flight, 51 year old Philip Wood, who was supposedly being held prisoner there. Many people believe the plane also ended up on that island. It is interesting to note that a Google AI search on Wang Yonghui MH370 returned the following response:

Wang Yonghui is not listed among the passengers of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370

Needless to say, this was wrong. He was listed amongst the passengers on other sites; he simply was not listed amongst those mentioned in a BBC News story from 2017 which had discussed only some of the passengers. In looking beyond the AI response, a number of references were made to him, including from the China Daily newspaper on 15 January 2015.
